Ultimate Beginner's Guide for ENS Ecosystem’s GR15 Round
A brief introduction and run through of ENS' participating in GR15
Grants Round 15 begins in just a few days! ENS are excited to participate in our third matching round here on Gitcoin. As always, we are extremely grateful for the continued support from the community.
We’re happy to provide this guide to our community. We want as many people as we can for this round, so we encourage everyone who reads this guide to create a grant right away!
For first timers, it’s recommended to get a bit of context on what Gitcoin Grants are and what purpose they serve in our emergent ecosystem. Feel free to skip this first section if you’re already aware of Gitcoin.
Note: This is a community editorial and may not correspond with or entirely reflect the views of TNL, ENS, or the DAO.
What is Gitcoin?
“Gitcoin is where the world’s leading web3 projects are born, validated and funded. Gitcoin Grants rounds, which use a Quadratic Funding mechanism, help communities to fund their shared needs and support people and organizations that are building the open internet and empower communities to fund their shared needs.”
Since their launch, they’ve expanded their focus to build “Regenerative Cryptoeconomies” through the funding of Public Goods.
What role does ENS play?
True Names Limited (TNL) kicked off its operations in 2017 as well, and were funded by a Grant they received from the Ethereum Foundation. Since at least May 2019, ENS has amassed a treasury sufficient enough for it to make sense to begin to contribute to the funding of Public Goods.
In 2021, ENS contributed their first meaningful round to Gitcoin and have been contributing to the Grants Rounds since. Like Gitcoin, ENS is a Public Good, and follow in similar respect to the notion of altruistic grants for the betterment of the wider ecosystem.
ENS x Gitcoin Grants
Gitcoin Grants is a quarterly fundraising event that enables open source projects of all sizes to seek and receive community funding. Their 15th funding round is near, spanning from September 7 to September 22 (submit your ENS GR15 grant now), with a total of $69,420 purposed for the funding of Public Goods within the ENS Ecosystem.
Our wish is to fund Public Goods initiatives that focus on the development of the ENS Protocol, education and advocacy. ENS DAO has the unique opportunity to establish itself as its own voice in the space. We are different because we represent a breadth of community and the goods that we build will be inherent to our shared values
